Guests love the thrill of each drop of the elevator car inside the attraction, and some love the suspense and uncertainty of waiting for that next drop. Some fans love it for the nostalgic nod to The Twilight Zone, and some love the creepy feelings evoked by the meticulous attention to detail in the decor and props used in the lobby, which doubles as the queue for the ride.

No matter what it is they love most about the experience, the fact is that Disney World fans seem to really love the Tower of Terror attraction at Hollywood Studios–so much so that Disney World is now offering Guests a new, even creepier experience inside the Hollywood Tower Hotel.

At least that’s what we’re told.
In celebration of the 50th anniversary of the opening of Walt Disney World in Florida, the resort has reportedly begun allowing brave Guests to book an overnight stay inside the creepy Hollywood Tower Hotel, which houses the Tower of Terror attraction.

The video, posted by @MouseTrapNews on TikTok, claims that in celebration of Disney World’s 50th anniversary, Guests now have the option to book an overnight stay at the Tower of Terror for the eerie price of $1,939–no doubt a nod to the year in which a freak storm on Halloween night led to the disappearance of five people in the elevator at the Hollywood Tower Hotel.
The video also claims that the new experience is one with a limited timeframe of availability, that Guests can book directly on the official Walt Disney World website, and that as part of their accommodations, Guests will have access to the “infamous Tip Top Club.”

But alas, the entire video is but a creative piece of satire, which frequent flyers to Disney World will likely discover during the short TikTok video, as it’s fairly common knowledge that there is no “infamous Tip Top Club” at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. (It was pretty obvious as in the video, instead of a photo of an actual Disney World location, the “Tip Top Club” is represented by a piece of computer-animated design.

While no part of this supposed “advertisement” is true, it’s no secret that the Tower of Terror attraction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios will have you wondering what is true about that fateful night in October 1939.
The story goes that the Hollywood Tower Hotel was once a beautiful, bustling locale that regularly accommodated some of the most elite of the Golden Age of Hollywood. But everything came to a spooky, screeching halt on October 31, 1939, after a frightening storm produced a powerful bolt of lightning that struck the hotel.

Just before the lightning strike, five hotel guests boarded an elevator car at the lively hotel. When the storm was over, the five guests had disappeared, and to this day, their whereabouts remain a mystery.

Two pieces of weathered luggage gather dust near a grand sitting chair in the lobby of the hotel, and there’s a foreboding abundance of dead, decaying plants. The Guest Registrar book lies open to a page dated 10/31/1939–the last night anyone stayed in the creepy old hotel. Dominoes lie in play atop a dilapidated old table encircled by four sitting chairs.

It’s all part of Walt Disney Imagineering’s attempt to make the imagined seem real. Or perhaps it is real. The attention to detail will have you questioning whether the story of the Hollywood Tower Hotel is the truth or merely the product of several elaborate imaginations.
