Department of Public Works
Part-time position to work front desk/reception at the Monroe Township Department of Public Works (DPW). Under the direction of the Director of DPW and the Deputy Superintendent of DPW, position performs clerical work including a variety of office assistance tasks. This position requires strong computer skills and the ability to multi-task. Responsible for taking phone calls, work orders, and interacting with residents with the ability to communicate effectively and courteously. Performs other related duties as required.

DUTIES MAY INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
· Deal tactfully and efficiently with the public in providing public works and recycling information;
· Interfaces with the Office Coordinator for all work orders including bulk pickup, building maintenance repairs, and road work;
· Record work orders using iWorq software;
· Answer phone calls, and in person inquiries pertinent to road work and recycling;
· Communicate with office staff and Deputy Superintendent as needed regarding daily work duties;
· Performs other related duties as assigned/required.
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
· Strong customer service skills with ability to communicate effectively either verbally or in writing;
· Knowledge and ability to utilize computers and software including MS Office (i.e., Excel, Word, Outlook) and ability to learn iWorq software, and others as needed;
· Ability to deal effectively and patiently with the general public, other Township employees including management and municipal officials in a pleasant, tactful, professional and efficient manner;
· Ability to work in a team-oriented environment with the ability to develop and maintain cooperative working relationships;
· Ability to prioritize, multi-task, be self-motivated, organized, detail-oriented and able to function efficiently within a fast paced and sometimes stressful environment;
· Ability to work with accuracy and speed in a customer driven environment;
· Ability to read, write, speak, understand or communicate in English sufficiently to perform the duties of this position. American Sign Language or Braille may also be considered as acceptable forms of communication.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT:
· Ability to sit and/or stand for long periods;
· Typing, bending and/or lifting for filing.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
· High School Diploma or equivalent;
· Prior office and computer experience required;
· Knowledge of iWorq software a plus
Successful candidate must reside in New Jersey unless otherwise exempted by law and will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background / reference check.

WAGES:
Pursuant to applicable bargaining agreement as per salary ordinance.
