Indonesia's Education Minister Tests Positive for Covid-19 – Tempo.co English

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Indonesia’s Minister of Education, Culture, Research and Technology Nadiem Makarim tested positive for Covid-19. The minister broke the news during a virtual work meeting with the House of Representatives’ Commission X on Tuesday, August 30.
Nadiem said that he and his entire family members caught the virus.
“I would like to apologize for not being there physically at the DPR building. After years of avoiding exposure to Covid-19, it ended up catching me. My family and I tested positive,” Nadiem said via video conference.
Nadiem is not the only Indonesian minister who is currently down with Covid-19. Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin yesterday said he also tested positive recently, and is currently self-isolating.
Budi said that whilst isolating he will continue to carry out his duties and activities as Minister from home.
