According to JD(S) leader H D Kumaraswamy, potholes in Bengaluru have turned into death traps. He blamed the Karnataka Government for a woman’s death after she was knocked over by a bus when she fell on the road while attempting to avoid a pothole.
Umadevi, 50, passed away on Tuesday, one day after she was involved in an accident at Vatal Nagaraj Road in the city as a result of a pothole.
Accusing the state BJP government of being directly responsible for these deaths, Kumaraswamy in a series of tweets said, “The state BJP government is very fond of potholes. As long as there are potholes, money will flow into their pockets. They are not ashamed despite being reprimanded by the High Court”
Meanwhile, CM Bommai says that there is an allegation that the death had happened due to the pothole and sought a report on the matter.
He said, “I have sought report from the police officers. The action will be initiated after we get the preliminary report on the incident”.
He also said, “The death is unfortunate. I have sought information on what exactly led to the incident. After verifying all details, the action will be initiated”
The BBMP, the civic body of Bengaluru, denied the death due to potholes and sought proof of it.
