Family-run business Home & Colour are expanding its made-to-measure blind, shutters and curtain offering online
Following a generation on the High Street, independant DIY & home retailer Home & Colour Centre is to move online.
The family-run business based near to Granville Square has sold everything that you need for your home, from paints to placemats with a strong community focus – selling tickets and being an information point for many local groups and events.
In more recent years, Home & Colour has become popular for their high quality blinds, shutters and curtains that are made to measure and installed in the customer’s home.
The opportunity has arisen to expand this part of the business, and therefore the High Street store will close it’s doors for the final time on Saturday, October 22 2022.
Paulette and David Wright opened the store in July 1984, working and greeting the people of Stone with a smile each day, serving the community up until their retirement in 2020.
They were joined by their son Matthew in 1999 who grew the window covering side of the business and subsequently managed the shop day-to-day in the last few years.
Matt Wright, director of the business, said: “After so many years on the High Street, it has been a difficult decision to make but it’s time to move on.
“Our family would also like to thank Suzanne Norish, who came to help out at the shop 10 years ago and has been a member of staff ever since.”
Home & Colour ltd will continue to provide blinds, shutters and curtains – taking appointments online and over the phone to visit customer homes, continuing the existing made-to-measure offer.
The shop won’t stay empty for long though – there’s a new business lined up to take over the building.
Matt continued: “The new business taking over the shop will be a very exciting addition to Stone so it feels good to be handing the keys to another small business owner who has such a great idea for the space.”
